Anyone know where I can get a fret marking gauge?
I know I saw one recently, but can't remember where :(
In case I've got the name wrong, it's a long piece of steel with the markings for cutting fret slots on different length necks ( and Bass too, I think).
A uk supplier would be best, 'cos of the postage, but not too fussed. Just want to track one down.
Cheers.

Both Stewmac and LMII have bass fretting jigs...
they work with power and manual slotting systems.

The ones that we are offering here on the OLF right now are limited to popular guitar scales :(
but hopefully soon will have bass scales as well :)

Stephen

I saw that one, thanks. Not quite what I'm after, but if I can't get it I'll bear it in mind.
Cheers.

If you're just looking for something with fret lines on it, you can use WFRET http://galileo.spaceports.com/~fishbake/ (down the page a bit) to print out scale templates.

If you're worried about shipping, any sign or rubber stamp shop with a small laser machine can cut one out of 1/4" acrylic and etch the lines for you if you can either provide them proper scale drawings or if they can draw them up. A lot of shops will cut stuff at straight time billing, so if they can do the drawing or you have a friend who can make a CAD drawing (you can get the numbers from various online fret calculators) then you can get something like that pretty cheap.

Hey Bob, that's a really interesting site, thanks.
I know someone who could probably do that. It's a good way to get it exactly how I want it.
Cheers.

I believe he is looking for a Fret Rule. This proper name might help you better in your search for one in your home country. I'm sure there has to be sellers of these close to home. Thoug stew mac sells various scales and ships overseas. IBEX is one of the popular manufacturers of these.
