Thought this may be of some use or interest to someone.
Fitted the router by drilling 12 mm and 8 mm holes using the router base as a template, secured the pillars with the 6 mm bolts fitting into the groves in the bottom of the pillars.
Basically I was not happy with visibility, or limited plunge depth, using the router's own base fitted to the jig.
Also note the bevel added to the cut-out round the router bit - I cut this with a guided cove bit, again to increase visibility around the bit area.

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.
