What's form cutting (or a form cut neck) compared to drawing a neck in 3D and machining it? Thanks.

The neck would be held on it's edge and carved with a C-shaped cutter custom ground to a "neck" shape. I'd imagine you'd have to take three passes. One down the centerline and one parallel to each edge.

I used to carve necks similarly to this on a pinrouter with large radius roundover bits. It took a lot of cleanup.
