So far, as I write this, only four people have indicated that they're going to the MGL meeting on Saturday. FOUR!!!

Why has the eagerness died? C'mon, let's have a luthin' party!!!

No Lack of interest here either. I am still on the fence, my wife has us doing family stuff too, I am still trying to get out of it for Saturday though.

I spoke with a number of luthiers on the phone today (both current members
and luthiers I would like to see join) and for many people it just seemed to
be too short of notice. I will certainly make an effort to put more effort in to
organizing the next meeting, and plan it much more in advance.

Including Bryan as the host and my apprentice Jotham who will be meeting
me there, it currently only looks like 6-8 people planning to attend. Still, I
really don't like to think of calling off yet another meeting.

David, with your generous offer to give demonstrations on various lutherie issues, I know I'll be able to learn something. Heck, even just hanging out with more experienced folks gives me a chance to learn something, so yeah, let's do it!

Okay, the boss says I can go!

Do we want to see the pressed archtop stuff? Either way is fine with me, but
let me tell you it is not too exciting, but may be a little interesting.

I, for one, would like to learn more about your process.

It'll be good to see everyone, Ken I am glad you'll be coming. I am bringing at least one person with me, too. It was a bit of short notice, but it's up to us to drive this group and a solid core to our group is important, just as not cancelling another meeting!
The weather did indeed get us messed up.

Hey guys, as a word of encouragement...

The New England Luthiers group has been meeting for more than three years now, and we have meetings planned for the second Sunday of every month. Sometimes we have someone doing a demonstration, and other times we just meet to hang out and yak. Sometimes we do a shop tour, or maybe just meet for lunch. But it's a part of our normal schedule, so for the most part we avoid scheduling other things on those days. Some luthier groups meet every two months. But having a set schedule helps to make the group more consistant and keeps the interest. There are times when we have only a handful of guys, and other times when we'll have 30 or more out for the meeting.

Don't give up, but plan farther in advance if you can.

For this meeting I have hired exotic dancers and am giving away door prizes such as Brazilian rose wood that Orville Gibson slept on in his bed as a child. Both have certified papers of authenticity and origin.

If that don’t bring em in, I don’t know what will.

See...there you go.
Of course if I decided to come all the way from New England, the exotic dancers would turn out to be pygmies dancing around a cauldron waiting to put me in there for dinner, and the rosewood would smell like pee from Orville wetting the bed as a kid.
I'll do y'all a favor and not show up so you fine folk won't have to suffer all that.

I for one have been so ichin' for another conviening of the MGL that if only four showed up, it wouldn't dampen things one bit! Bryan, once again you've offered your fine shop for the gathering and it's greatly appreciated!!

P.S. What will break my bank more, the BRW or the dancers?
