I want to know as well! I've been a bit under the weather with a nasty cold, then holiday crap...and I'm afraid I haven't gotten back with Bryan yet! I have been so busy... When the holidays were upon us, I thought it would be better to wait until the new year to ask him...and as for that-

HAPPY NEW YEAR to all of you MGL folks!Mark Swanson39082.9480555556

Thanks again, Mark, for doing the work in getting a meeting together. Lots of colds are slamming the West Michigan area this season. I've had three of them in the past few months.    Get well, my friend.

And HAPPY NEW YEAR to you, too!!!

I hear you Mark! I too have had a cold, and though the holiday has been great despite it, it sucks nontheless! I will remain eager, but patient. Likewise, Happy New Year to all!!!!!!

Sorry I haven't checked in for quite a while... hard to keep up with everything. I would be up for meeting with you all again. Jan 13 wouldn't work for me unless it's later in the day but I think other Jan dates would work.

Happy New Year!!

I've spoken to Byran, and I'm waiting to hear back from him on the 20th or the 27th...I suggested the 27th so more of you can make plans. I'll let you know as soon as I hear something! Nice to hear from you again, John!

I'm wondering if there might be an alternative location to Bryan's...possibly even more convenient to reach for more people as well. Bryan's shop is a perfect venue but it's sure taking a long time to settle on a date! It makes more sense to me to meet somewhere else than to be at the mercy of Bryan's schedule. This is not a slam on Bryan...he's a great guy!

Any thoughts or volunteers?

I think any change would be problematic. Bryan's shop is about as centralized as it can get for folks in Michigan, especially since some people from the northern part of the state have expressed interest. I know that doesn't help you, though, as far as driving distance.

I understand your frustration, especially since other states and regions seem to have well-organized, regular meetings. Who's got the time, though?

Well, it would be nice to have some other places to meet. (Isn't it a good thing that we have this internet spot to meet up?) David Collins would like to host a meeting, but I'm not sure if his shop is ready yet, others including myself would step up to the plate.
Bryan is indeed behind our group but it is hard for him to juggle a meeting, I think. I still haven't heard anything back from him! I hate to have to pester him about it....
It was something that we had talked about from the start of the group, having meetings in other locations. This would make it easier for those who have to drive a long distance to Bryan's- they can plan a meeting nearby and others can drive for a change.
So, we are open to it- does anyone else have any thoughts? Mark Swanson39094.0109837963

Well...as a last resort, I'd be willing to host it on January 27 if nobody else steps up. It's certainly not convenient for anybody but me so maybe it will incent someone to come up with a better plan.

I miss you guys!

I'll probably be ready to host the next meeting but I doubt that my shop
will be ready before early-mid spring. Benches are still going up and
coming down and I'm still not sure what the final layout is going to look
like. I'm also still trying to figure out what the comfortable capacity of my
shop will end up being. I have a feeling that it may end up getting a little
too congested when the group exceeds 12-15 people (we could probably
meet that number with a southeast Michigan chapter of the guild). It may
not even hold that many, but I don't really know yet.

I'd love to host at my shop at least for the comfort of being able to
lecture and demostrate with my own tools and bench, but we'll have to
see how everything works out. 'Till then I'll gladly accept the generosity of
any one else who wants to donate their shop space for a few hours, but I
think Bryan's would still be ideal for this meeting if he has the time.

27th is fine for me.

edit: We all know it's winter, so let's try to plan for no weather cancellations
in the event of all but the most extreme situations or power outage (like at
my shop right now...)David Collins39097.7696527778

I think I can make the 27th -- if not too early. Yeah, no power here today either most of the day.

I talked to Bryan today, and he said that he'd post here to confirm things up.

Let's go for high noon, unless that's too early for Bryan.

I can't wait to see everyone there!
