Having looked at all the wonderful guitars people here at the OLF are making im very curious to know how many builds everyone has done.Ive only built one guitar and am starting on my second shortly :P |

ONE!!!!!! 
I'm still a NOOB!!!!!! WAHAAAYYY!! I felt that my first guitar was built in a hurry, (needed to get it out of my system) but I am going to really enjoy and take more time with the second. Researching stuff is immensely fun. I am thinking about my build all the time at the moment, visualising the possiblities, drawing out plans, seeing what other people are doing. Hopefully I'll do a week's building course one day... |

25 or so guitars 3 lutes. Working on one OM, one FE19 homage and an Archlute. Plus I have an original Venere lute for repair, but that's going to need a lot of thought first. Colin |

I've built 460 or so acoustic guitars, a dozen mandolins, 14 archtops, 150 to 175 custom electrics and more than a thousand electric bodies and necks that were sold separately to customers to either replace their own or to assemble their own new guitars from. I'm serial numbered out to about 600 now and have alot of guitars in the shop in different stages of construction. My serial system has changed a few times over the years with me connecting the numbers to their completion dates or to the sequence that they were ordered in. Some gift or donation guitars were never entered into my serial number sequence so they complicate the count a little, too. Since alot of my guitars went either to Japan or Europe, warranty registrations were never received and an accurate count may be hard for me to nail down. Regards, Kevin Gallagher/Omega Guitars |

I have no idea how many I've built, but it's probably around 200. Many were done with help of apprentices, and I've supervised the building of maybe 30-50 student guitars. As you can see, record keeping has not been high priority for me. Over the past 7-8 years however I have done no building at all, and instead turned my focus to repair and restoration. Lately I've been getting the itch to build, along with a good deal of new ideas and will probably start building again within the next few years. |

Two and a half. Well, #2 is almost complete, still in the white. I hope to start the finish during the the Thanksgiving weekend. For #3 I have the neck and fretboard ready for shaping, the top and back are joined and thicknessed. The sides still need to be bent. #4 through #6 are just piles of wood at this point. |

Now again I wake up thinking; "Can I face another build?" "Do I have the nerves?" Now and again I wonder whether I ought to just pack it in where I've started and do something else. I've got my art, music and woodcarving that needs my attention... But somehow the more Luthiery research I do, the more I feel drawn to building guitars. Can somebody explain why? |
