For those of you that have followed my rosette making posts -thank you very much!
This is the last part.

This is a rose in a Curly Redwood top that was made without the aids of my new jigs.It is about 5 years old.
You can see how ill fitting it is.

I first measure the width of the purfling lines I want to use .
These are close to 1/8 inch.I'll use a 1/8 bit!
So i'll cut an inside channel ,and a outside channel that justs touches the rose material already inlaid so as to remove any out of roundness and remove any gaps.

I pre-bend my purflings -it just causes less problems with twisting and breakage.

Providing the fit is good I glue in the rose next!
If the purfs are to tight or loose you'll have to adjust for that by removing more wood or adding more lines!
Next I carefully lift 1/2 of the rose out and apply glue-
and replace very carefully-then lift and glue the other half.

Then after the glue is dry I scrape ( i love doing hand work)or if your so equipped run through a sander with 120 or 150 grit.

There you have it!
A one of a kind rose !
Thanks
Any question you have we be gladly answered -I must have forgotten something !
