Hi all,

I'm planning on building an OM-42 style guitar this summer and I
wanted to ask for any tips / hints on inlaying the mitered pearl and
purflings around the fingerboard extension.

Thanks,

Louis

actually this is very simple. I use abalam but the techniques are the same for solid pearl. Use a teflon fill strip and you use that when binding. When you are ready to put in the pearl you lift the poly out and start laying the pearl.
I use elmers white glue then once I am done I will drop fill with CA to fill voids in the pearl

PS to cut the miter i use a fine 2nd cut mill file after I use a toe nail clipper to cut to aproximate length. Clipper was never used on toes

Thanks for the tips John. When you rout the slots around the
fingerboard for pearl / purfling do you undercut the whole
fingerboard extension area and fill the gap with an ebony veneer?

Thanks,

Louis
