Well after reading a few of the posts in the last few weeks, I decided to take some of the reviews mentioned here to heart. For the last 15 or so years I have used my trusty Boss TU12H (checking it often for accuracy) for all my tuning needs, I also have used lemon oil on my fretboards. Well I decided that since business is so great new toys are in order. Voila Peterson VS2 and the Stew Mac fingerboard conditioner. Both of these are great and I thank the forum for modernizing this old dog. I need to have a retirement ceremony for my old tuner. It has a unique history as I sold it to my father in 1989 and when he passed away I decided to use it for my shop. This tuner has helped set up thousands of instruments. I guess it will go to a Florida condo like the rest of us retiring jews. Thanks guys,btw is anyone going to GAL in June? I met some great people at ASIA and am definitely going. Evan |

I'm working on it (trying to work up to courage to ask my wife for permission that is), but hopefully I'll be there. Like you I got a big kick out of ASIA, I'm sure GAL will be great too. Funny thing, GAL means CRAZY in Norwegian! |

Billy T, it seems so! Seriously, there is squite a bit of Scandinavian influence on the English language. Norway is just on the oposite side of the North Sea from Britain, and centuries of trade (and some not-so-peaceful meetings) between us and them has resulted in many common words and phrases. Both our languages are defined as "Germanic" as opposed to French which is "Latin". Today, I'm pretty sure the English incfluence on modern Norwegian is far greater than our influence ever was on the English language, but we seem to still come up with one or two that stick. Gravlaks, anyone? |

Hold the Gravlaks and the lutefisk - Thank you, but I might try the lefsa. My Mom and Grandmother says it's great! I'm pretty sure the greatest influence on English is French, though it's root is very likely germanic. I have to tell you, I'm still enjoying the other Scandanvian customs, like pillaging and burning, I do it all the time!! It's one tour group the British seem to hate, though! |

Arnt, that "trade" may have been a little one sided, way back when. I wish I could go to ASIA or GAL, but when all was said and done I wouldn't get much change from $10k - there's no way I could sit in economy for that long, it'd have to be business class. Try getting permission from the wife for that! Maybe in a few years... |

I hope to make it to GAL this year - my first one! I grew up north of Seattle and lived in Olympia for 17 years before moving to Montana. Still love it over there, but a bit too crowded for me! Hope to meet some of you there! -Mark |
