The First Ride played by Don Ross on a beat up Lowden.

This song just keeps building and building, makes my feet dance a bit. Incredible player and song.

Bruce, your only discovering Don Ross now? I hope not but there's always time for new discoveries right

First ride is one great song. I've had the great pleasure to hear our own OLFer Alain Deforges play First Ride on one of my guitars and while I thought the guitar sounded good, Alain made it really sing when he played first ride on it. I love that song and want to make it a goal to be able to play it at some time before I die.

Great song indeed. I'm sure you'll be looking at more from all the great artist at www.candyrat.com, Andy Mckee is also one great guitar player.

Excellent stuff. Love that unique Lowden tone.

I'll check out more of Don's stuff. :)

Yeah, Rod, I'd seen him on YouTube, but not real familiar. When I heard him do First Ride, well he had me as a fan. What a great piece and that old Lowden looked loved long and hard... S10 I think.

He also plays a guitar with a B on the headstock. A Canadian luthier starting with the letter B. ?

Don had a Beneteau stolen in 2006 when his van was broken into, that most likely was the guitar with the "B" on the headstock.

I see on Marc's website that he has made Don a new fanned fret, nice looking guitar.

Bruce, thanks for the tuning - that will help with figuring it out!  I loved this song the first time I heard it.

I was hoping Don would play it when I saw his concert back in Sept or Oct of last year.  No luck, but I managed to get in the front row to be able to watch him play....I'm still amazed....and still tryin to learn his song Leger De Main......

That particular Lowden is hilarious - having played it - it's got mylar
covering a hole in the treble side of the upper bout.

Follow Warren's link above that says YOUTUBE on the web.

I spent most of an hour watching Warren perform. I'm impressed completely. Will you play one of my guitars for a few videos?
