Okay, it's far too quiet around here for a Friday Night. So.... what's on your bench? I don't currently have any pics, but I'm hoping to wrap up a Telecaster soon. I saw this Smith guy shredding on one on UTUBE, seems he used to play on SNL, plays a red tele. Take a pic of what you are working on and post it, why not! 
My youngest's guitar has been begging for a while I may just drag it down and work on it during the holidays. Okay, I should take my camera with me to the shop. |

I am a blessed man! My wife just gave me some Christmas news today... she has agreed to let me build a complete new shop for the guitar building SHe even called a trusted contractor to come over and talk about the design and layout of the building.so I guess I will not only have a new shop, but some new benches too. |

Here's my brother's birthday gift.... Needs binding/purfling, end wedge, finish & set up. Couldn't finish in time for Christmas. He's about 8 hours away, so not sure when he'll get it. He'll SEE it in person on Christmas when we get together. Small Jumbo with Sapelle back Rosewood binding from Bob Cefalu (Thanks Bob, for all you do, I appreciate you, Merry Christmas to you and Rosie) Carpathian Spruce top (also Bob, IIRC) No more info till after done! Big brudder might be watching!

Mostly I have a lot of wood and junk on my benches. I'd love to clear that stuff off and get back to work on a couple guitars, and also my cnc project. I have a week off, so maybe I can do some serious cleaning house down there. Lots of stuff to be thrown out and sold off. I'm hoping to get my shop as clean as Lance's or Bill Greene's. Maybe even as clean as Hesh's! |

Just got the rims done on my L-00 and the brw fingerboard bound.I'm going to thickness the adi top and mahog. back tomorrow.....

Making some molds to put sides in right after bending on a pipe, to hold them in shape. Right now making one inside mold and one outside mold. Spaced to a 2mm gap between them.   |

Well, I'm finally in the finishing stage of my first two scratch-built guitars -- sister OMs. Did the first five coats of KTM9 today, will do the other five tomorrow, then cure for ten days over the break. They'll hopefully be strung up and in use shortly after the new year. Not a moment too soon, as I have only two months to complete several sculptures for my show in March. Of course, I'll be contemplating my next guitar build during that time... I confess...I'm bitten. Ken |

Finished off making the tail block

I'm working on an SJ of Black Limba from the Zoot Man. The Fret board is bookmatched coco. 
I'm looking for a bridge blank to match this F board. If anyone might know of a good match, please let me know..? (Bob, Don)?

I've got about 8 cutting boards on my bench in a last minute push for Christmas presents... and the feed belt on my Performax 10-20 drum sander just broke. Time to get acquainted with the random orbital. |

Here are a couple that are ready for finish First is some home made zoot. The back and sides are from a black walnut that I harvested about four years ago. This is the first set from what I considered the most expendable billet because I had never tried re-sawing before. Second is Honduras rosewood from Hibdon that I have had about three years. Tops are some of the zootman's bearclaw spruce. Necks are laminated walnut and maple.

a hollow mahogany/maple doublecut Les Paul with a piezo bridge....... rosewood fretboard PUPS will be from GFS 
also a short scale Mahogany/Engleman 00 and a walnut Sitka mini Jumbo 12 |

I wish my wife would build me a new shop. I don't want a new one I want another one! There are so many tools I'd like to try. Okay, this was on my bench earlier today. Ever rebuild any gifts from Christmases Past? 
I also sawed up a bunch of Claro Walnut into billets for storage. Love that smell. |

As you can see, it's paduak back and sides, and just off to the side is the engelman top. The top is actually on and the binding channels are cut. As you can also see, this one is getting a bevel. It's a first for me. And what I'm attempting is a very simplified version of a bevel. Hopefully I can post finished pictures in a month or so. Also on the bench (but not in the picture) are 5 beautiful fingerboards from Bob at St. Luth. Nice stuff!! Phil |
