I met a lute maker in my hometown who has cello tops for sale, that's why I went over to potentially by some for archtop. In his stash he had a tusk that he had resawn veneers off over the years. And he mentioned a BS blade I've never heard of designed to cut lead 'somethings'???? He called it a pica master. Evidently no longer available. The specs you ask. 5/8 x very thin with little or no set, 3tpi. He claimed it made a very smooth cut in ivory & wood. I notice Lee Valley has a blade .022 with a kerf of .032 which sounds pretty good. Anybody ever heard of this blade or what is the smallest kerf resaw you have ever used. He had to slow the speed down considerably. |

I bought some.016” 5/8” with 3-4 tpi for resaw. Decided to go back to.022” for durability. It is a Lenox blade from Spectrum. Turning ivory was big industry in England up to banning 50 years ago or so. Made chess sets. I read books by Bill Jones about his life as ivory turner seems like 40-80s or so. Bob |
