Dave Collins details how we install the excellent K&K pick-ups.

Please be sure to subscribe to the video channel it's being greatly expanded in the coming months. Lots of new videos are planned.

Thanks for that Hesh.
That's definitely a step up from my scrap ply and bamboo skewers installation tool and might stop me sometimes leaving a few spots of blue-tac on the CA...........
I use the bridge clamp idea/mirror for nylon strung guitars, got a pump so may try to rig something up.

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

Elegant method of work (both methods), thank you for sharing it.

I like both those tools a lot! I do something similar to the second method. Using a bridge clamp but without vacuum. I just use the poster putty that comes with it. Funny too b/c I just made a vide of my method. The KK method is a bit awkward.

I will say this too, I've seen enough home owner installed KK's that were terribly placed on the bridge plate but they didn't sound all that bad either.

I've used the K&K method for at least a dozen or so. It works but would be easy to make a mess of it I think. The poster putty can be a PITA to clean off sometimes. I like the clamp idea and I do have a vacuum pump.

The mini vacuum clamps are something else.

Check out this one that walked through the door earlier this year:

Nice Hesh!
I center drilled a bolt for vacuum on a current stew Mac clamp for pinless situation back in 2017.
For some reason, I gave it up for just sticking it on my gloved finger and looking through the pin holes with a mirror.
Your cleaner set up inspires me to pull it out and try upping my rig.

K&K pickups are really good! I have one installed in my Heshtone. Tony Karol did the install.

Great video and I will subscribe.
