Beautiful, Brad! Any interest in sharing your method for cutting purfling channels that wide?

Very, very nice! I like the way you do the backstrap.

My tops are flat, so I use a laminate trimmer with a bearing bit.
I bought mine from Grizzly to augment my set from LmI since they cut deeper rabbets.
I use it for the bulk of the cut and then finish with the Dremel with a guide.
It’s actually very simple.

Brad, On the back of the neck is that a fake backwards Vee joint? Whatever it is, with the contrasting color it looks cool.

Wow! That's a real looker Brad.

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

Great guitar Brad! My question about the MOP purfling, around the perimeter of the top, would be how did you layout and cut each piece of pearl?

Ken, it's a simple backstrap, which is a headstock veneer that curves up into the neck shaft. And when that part is shaped to the neck it takes on the shape of a V. It is not an uncommon technique. One benefit is that it strengthens the neck to minimize the risk of a headstock breaking off.

So after I rout the channel I glue in the Rope purfling and let it dry.
Then I take the mother of pearl blanks and Band saw them to the approximate inside radius/shape. Then I refine that shape on a belt sander.
Then I take a set of dividers and set it to the size I want which in this case is a quarter inch and cut that out a little big on the bandsaw.
Then using a digital micrometer I carefully sand the outside so that there within a few thousands of an inch of the.250. This step is critical because if they’re not within a thousandth or two it just won’t look right.
At that point I simply square up the ends on the belt sander by eye and fit one to the next one and glue them in. The remaining purfling is installed and the binding and it’s done.

I did that work in two sessions about four hours each.

I did the rosette in a similar way Using a disk I made from plywood which I covered in sandpaper and chucked in the drill press.

Seriously lovely, Brad. The pearl just looks mind bogglingly difficult to execute. Such a beauty.

It plays great.
I’m very particular about “dialing in”my guitars.
It’s also sounding very nice , of course it’s a brand new guitar and needs some time to open up.
I have built several of these size 0 guitars of the same materials and bracing structure and it seems to produce a very robust sound for a little guitar.

I am a big fan of 0 size guitars.
I usually don't favor pearly guitars (style 21 is more my thing), but you have hit a home run with this one. Bravo!
