My Son In law brought over a guitar that he claims is a Taylor kit guitar.
For the life of me I can't find a reference to Taylor ever offering a kit.
The head shape looks like a Taylor but there is no head plate.
The linings are laminated .
The neck joint is a butt joint with (4) 6mm wood dowels.
I think its a knock off but before I open my my big mouth I thought I would ask y'all.
Thanks
Dave

I think the wood dowel neck joint is a give away. That would only come from the orient.

I'm no Taylor expert, Dave - but it can't be true....

It is probably a "Taylor" kit in the same sense as you have Chibson, PRS, Tele, Strat kits, etc. If things have gotten tougher with Customs they may figure kits are a safer bet than counterfeit guitars.
People buy the kits, evaluate the components and make upgrades where they feel necessary.

Taylor does make kits but they are dreds and are used in the STWM program and not for the general public . As stated before dowels are a dead giveaway for the cheap chinese kits
