My heating blanket developed a cold spot. Cost me a nice side.

I have been looking at Leenovo. Any recommendations regarding 800w, 1200w, with or without the digital controller?
Thank you in advance.

Hey Joe, I just bought the 1200w Keenovo with the digital controller.
Bent a set of bocote sides, worked flawlessly.
Purchased directly off their site. Shipping to Canada was about 2 weeks.

Sounds really good Bri. I have a controller that uses a thermal coupler and it is ok but not great. Apparently the Keenovo controller regulates the heat well?

Seemed to, near as I could tell with my digital thermometer.
Heated up quite quickly.
There are too many function on the controller for me to deal with though.

The Pro-Therm blankets sourced through Mr. Hall at Blues Creek have been very durable in service, despite some intentional abuse (i.e., use of the blanket as an emergency heater for a hot tub after that appliance's heater controller failed during the Year of the Polar Vortex...a solid couple of weeks of constant full immersion in a chemical stew and lots of cycles). The Pro-Therm units are a bit more expensive, but appear to have a very good track record.

One thing to note: use of a top slat appears to reduce the wear and tear on blankets in this shop, such that we see blankets with hundreds of bending cycles that show very minimal wear. Even a thin aluminum flashing slat appears to provide the benefit, while for tight cutaway work, an additional spring steel slat also contributes to blow-out prevention.

This has been discussed before - you might try and find the thread.

I have been using the Keenovo with their controller and it has worked fine. Much easier to drive than my home made arrangement of dimmer switch and thermocouple on a previous blanket.

I am not though a heavy user so I don't know how it would go in a shop such as Woodie's

Cheers Dave M

I also use the higher wattage Keenovo with the digital controller. One thing I noticed was it gets ripping hot in no time, so be ready! My old PID controlled blanket I had 30-60 seconds or more to fiddle with the waist caul, etc.. with the Keenovo it's steaming in no time.

Woodie,
I am leaning toward the ProTherm blanket, but then when I consider the volume I do these days and the high cost of the ProTherm, the keenovo might be a good choice. I do need to decide quickly though, I'm falling into a hole on the two pending builds,

Dave,
Thanks for the info. Unless I talk myself into the ProTherm I'll most likely go with keenovo

Joe, John Hall is a phone call away and your new heating blanket is on its way. I could afford to wait and I bought mine from Keenovo and waited for China Post to send it on its way. If I was stalled and a phone call to John got me going tomorrow, I'd make that call.

You can try Bob Gleason, Pegasus Guitars. He used to have them, so you'd have to check.

Edit: try this

John and I sell the same Pro-Therm blankets. They have a very long life. I'm in Hawaii, probably 3-5 days away by mail. John is on the Mainland and most likely faster delivery. John's a good friend. Buy from him and you won't go wrong.--Bob

I went ahead and ordered a new blanket from Bob at Pegasus Guitars. I ordered Friday and just took it out of the mailbox on this Monday morning.

Excellent Service !!!

Thanks to all of you for your recommendations!
