Just finished this little guy, 00 size, EIR, englemann, maple & EIR neck, spalted maple trims, finished with tru-oil. Rubner bearing tuners.
Each one seems to get a wee bit better thanks to the experience and knowledge shared by the folks here. Thanks!
This one is going to friend who recently published a very nice book on the PCT.

Nice work, something that good looking had just got to sound good!

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

Very cool! The map inlay on the back must have been a lot of work. Do the peaks, from south to north, represent Whitney, Shasta, Hood, and Rainier?

No, the shape came from OLF member Joel Michaud who generously gave me the molds.

Hi Danny, the inlay is a depiction of the PCT, beginning in Manning Park continuing through WA,OR and CA to the Mexican Border near Campo, California. The stars and dots represent major and capitol cities.
Hey, are you visiting me in Ventana this winter?
