I’ve had some wonderful mahogany topped guitars over the years, and wondered if the sapelle variant would craft an acceptable
Sound board. Any thoughts on this?

Most of the Sapele I've had is a lot denser than Honduran Mahogany.

Of course, just like Hog, the density varies. I'd do a lot of homework first: density vs. stiffness.

Just my $0.02

I put one together for a local musician here on the Island about two years ago. Turned out very well. Honduran B/S and Sapele top.

Yes it can be don, though I'd be more inclined to look towards khaya first...
