Happy Birthday and it is indeed nice having a wife who takes interest in your interests. Some years ago, wife noticed I had been listening to the music of a number of guitarists who played Strats. Totally out of the blue, she gave me an Eric Clapton model Strat for my 40th birthday. These days, her interest in my guitar building often takes the form of puns while I'm working on a guitar. Installing binding: "I see you've got yourself in a bind today." Working on frets: "What are you fretting over now?". Filing nut slots: "Oh nuts!". Making a bridge: "Where's that confounded bridge?". etc.

What trail did you hike in the Olympics?

Ha! It's my birthday today too. Happy birthday.

Happy Birthday Michael! Very nice gift from your wife. You'll have to give us your thoughts and impressions on the Tonewood Amp. I've been intrigued by them.

Another happy birthday wish. We just got home from the Peninsula last night. What incredible weather (I heard that Forks hit 80 on tuesday). We walked out to the coast at Ozette, wanted to go up the Elwha but apparently the road is washed out. Hope the salmon are getting thru OK.

I looked that hike up on the Washington Trails Association website. It looks like a pretty cool hike. It's now on my list for next summer and it's even on the east side of the Olympics so getting there from Seattle for a day hike isn't as bad as other parts of the Olympics. And it looks like it's outside the national park so we could take our dog too.

I'm over on the dry side in Wenatchee but we get to the Peninsula from time to time. Climbed a few of the significant peaks and done a few nice hikes. Always wanted to do the Bailey Traverse but the logistics are tricky - much easier for me to run up to the North Cascades.

Sorry about the thread drift but you do live in a wonderful place (and from the sound of things, have a pretty wonderful wife)

I'd never have purchased one of these for myself but I guess that's part of what makes birthdays cool! Now I need a guitar to put it on that isn't too nice... I feel a quick players model coming on... Additionally, I'm feeling a little stiff after a pre-birthday hike in our local Olympic Mountains. 5.4 miles in, 3500' elevation gain, turn around and back down. Down is always worse than up!! M

Sometimes it's better to not have a wife that pays attention to your interests. Then they won't ask you questions like "why do you need to buy another router when you already have 18 of them?"
