OLF’s - can someone help me understand something I have not been able to wrap my mind around? I love arm bevels, but don’t get how the veneer can be glued down on what is a conical surface. It seems to me that the veneer will tend to kink with the inside radius being smaller than the outside. Does the water in the glue just make it pliable enough that it’s not an issue? Is it that simple? Thanks |

While what you're thinking may be true the veneer lays pretty flat. A piece of paper to make a close template, cut veneer same. glue and tape it on. That part is that simple imo. |

I learned how to do it from Kent Everette's video class on Robbie O'Brien's website. Kent encourages folks to flatten the area where the veneer goes. He says it looks better. I would expect that it would also allow the veneer to fit better too... |

I’ve done them both ways. What I’ve found is that unless I use elaborate cauls when taping/gluing the veneers, it’s helpful to have a slight convexity to the bevel surface. Otherwise, due to the slight overhang of the oversized veneers, the tape can pull down the edges such that it creates a gap in the center of the veneer. Also, I feel the bevel is more comfortable and looks better being a bit rounded over.  Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |
