I've been outsourcing my finish work to Joe White for about 10 years now but he's in the process of a move. I'm looking for an interim finisher. Joe sprays polyester which I prefer but mostly I'm concerned with a thin soundboard finish. The quality must be excellent - every bit as good as something from the small shops like Collings, Santa Cruz, etc ...

I've contacted Brian Howard and he seems like a great guy - I need to get a few references before I work with him tho' -- if anyone has worked with him and wants to share your experience, please contact me (386.444.9790) -- I'd really appreciate it.

I also heard that the Collings varnish guy was taking on some work. I may be interested in that if anyone has contact information. Any other recommendations? Does anyone have Tony Ferguson's contact info. If you've got any recommendations, please provide contact info or you could email it to me at info@fayguitars.com if you prefer.

Thanks !!!

BTW, here's a couple guitars that were recently finished by Joe - love his finish work.

You might want to give Matt Eady a shout. He’s in Augusta, GA. He used to do finish work for Bob Benedetto. I haven’t used him, but what I’ve seen of his work is killer. I also have friends who have used him and are very happy with his work.

Joe does a great finish. Do know how long he expects to be down?

This is the contact info I have for Tony Ferguson

John Hall has referred me to Dennis Frye (610) 759-6642 I have not used him. He is a retire Martin guy if I remember the story. Call John for more info.

Please PM me with any references for Brian you get. Thanks.
