Would this small turbine be enough to supply a painter's hood and a gun, using a "tee" in the line? Anybody?

I'd be very concerned about air quality to the hood. Without proper filtration, what might you be breathing? Just sayin' |

I would think you would be breathing the same air as wherever you position the rig. I just saw this on e-bay and was thinking it would be cool to have your gun and breathing rig all in one unit. Here's what the manufacturer has on it: (copied from ad) This system with vinyl hood was designed for painters/refinishers when cartridge type respirators are not allowed or clog too quickly (spraying isocyanates, stripping finishes, sanding body filler, using cyanoacrylates, etc.) It provides full coverage of exposed skin on the face and neck. Don't even think that would run a gun by itself. Most gun turbines are at least two stage and the ones worth using are three or four stage units. |

Why didn't they submit it for approval? I built my own version of this with a window fan, a lot of cardboard, a small squirrel-cage electric blower, some cheap hardware-store flexible tubing, a used respirator facepiece and a lot of duct tape. It is ugly as sin but I trust it more than one I would have to buy without being able to look at it closely. I would at least want to read a lot of reviews that don't mention things like oily plastic hot electric smells in the air. |

I have been checking out the hood/turbine combo you show. I think it would work great for spraying urethane. I'd be interested in one for myself. For the occasional spryer it might be perfect. (I would not use it for air to the gun. I have a compressor for that) |
