I love my Performax Shop Pro 25, which is a similar machine. A person could do a lot worse than buy one of these old Performax machines.

Like Don, I have the 25" version of this and love mine. At $1500, it's like stealing this machine. I hope someone gets this.

Is it overkill for a luthier? Yes. Do we want it anyway? You bet!

3 phase makes it a little less enticing. I used one in a cabinet shop several years ago. The second drum proved to be of limited use. Getting them adjusted to a height where both would sand and neither would burn was problematic. Using two different grits also didn't seem practical when you were making multiple passes to thickness the work. Using one of the drums worked fine. It was a nice machine.
As wide as the machine is it might be possible to wrap 1/2 the drum with coarse sandpaper and the other half with a finer grit ,since guitar plates are usually less than 16 inches.
