How did you bend that so thick? Where did you get the paulonia?

It’s three layers of 0.070 think laminated together. I get it from World Paulownia, suggested by Burton. Here are a few pics of the skeleton and how it looks installed:

Super stiff and really lightweight. I laminated the lining side and installed with fish glue.

I should say the real genius of this method is the cutting of the taper. The lining is perfectly uniform and perfectly tapered. You barely have to clamp it, it lays right in place.

Brad, it looks like you're building that guitar with a 3D printer!

I'm starting to put the finish on the current guitar. This is the second z-poxy application for pore filling. Getting the first good look at how the wood will appear under the finish is one of my favorite points in the whole process.

Looks awesome, Jay.

I finally got to use my new work board and brace locating system today. I made some cauls to keep from crushing the peaks of the braces with the go bars.

In between projects right now. I screwed up routing the bindings on an 000 and damaged the top so I had to do a retop. I don't like to waste anything so I routed that top off and saved it to make the 00 I'm working on now.

This one with laminated rosewood/mahogany/rosewood sides.

And solid rosewood back.

This is interesting. I take it the block under the fingerboard is to hold down the truss rod and prevent buzzing? Either way can you explain that a bit please? Good looking guitar too [:Y:]

Hey Haans, I thought you retired from this stuff?

(Glad you didn't...)

Not the truss rod but the fretboard extension which is what I think you meant right?

I shared a few of these on FB, but I'm pretty thrilled to be finally past restringing the piano restoration. Trish should hopefully be playing it by the end of the month. There will be a few tunings, but other than that I just need to replace the hammers and re-pin the damper flanges.

Yes, not sure how I missed that before. So you don't glue down the fretboard to the soundbox or is that another measure to keep things tight? I've seen something similar before but never asked what the reasons were behind it.

Real nice Colin. You posted another instrument a while back with the same finish. I remember thinking how
the look really appealed to me. You say it's enduro var "silk". I took a look at Lee Valley and a few other places,
all I see is satin, semi and gloss. I'm wondering if the labeling is different where you live, or if it's a different
product or you're just calling it by the wrong name.:) Also, how are you applying it, spray, it would seem?
Again, real nice!
Ken

Sorry, my mistake.
Satin is the name of GF product.
Although this was me using up a few left overs from old finish jobs, mixing up off gloss, gloss, satin and "settled in the bottom of the tin flattener" from Matt EV. :) wow7-eyes
Expensive stuff to waste, and I didn't like the off gloss I was trying anyway, neither one thing or the other. pfft
Sprayed.
