This works, in the northern climes stick it in a snowdrift in a plastic bag. Otherwise a freezer for 10-15"

Another method is to place the drum on your workbench and roll a board on top of it while applying pressure. It will compress enough that the sanding drum can be slipped off.

I have trouble keeping the drums on my Ridged EB44241.
They seem the slip in the winter and they work just fine in the summer.

Good to know. I just ordered a Triton oscillating benchtop sander this morning. I hope it works out, Grizzly is backordered until April and this one is rated higher and cheaper. At the very least it should be better than my makeshift drill press sander.
