I just scored four 9.5" X 1" X 8ft. board of beautiful makore. Has anyone here built with it and how can I expect it to behave???

Great stuff. Works easily, finishes well. You shouldn't have much trouble unless it's highly figured. Tonal influences somewhere between rosewood and mahogany.

Be careful when you cut it, some people are highly allergic.

I built a 00 guitar with it. It was highly figured and the sides were a total failure in bending. I use a hot pipe so that my have affected the wood differently than a heat controlled blanket over a form. I would bend to shape and clamp to a mdf form overnight. They cracked in different places every time after repairing. I finally scraped them. The back came out beautifully. Looks good with eir sides.
The caution about the dust is worth considering. I ended up with a terrible lung infection that I now believe originated from sanding the Maroke. The Wood Bible lists it as one of the most toxic woods. It is beautiful and sounds nice. Just take extreme precautions with the dust.

I recently finished a 6-string baritone ukulele out of highly figured makore. No drama at all with working the wood either in terms of bending or dust. This sample was denser than most Honduras mahogany with a ringier tap tone and it worked out pretty well.
