I posted a while back for info and reviews of the shapton 16 K stone. After watching u tube videos and reviews I went with the sigma. I really like it and yes it does make a big difference to go from my 8 k polishing stone to the 13 k stone. I flattened and polished the aldi chisels purchased in sept they were $7 us and IMHO a bargain they sharpened up vy well and compare favourably with chisels costing $$$$. Thanks to all who posted bliss

No, I have at least 100 chisels of varying quality from Aldi and yard sale beater chisels to handmade japanese mortise chisels. to handmade dovetail chisels made by bill salchow a deceased bowmaker. LOL I just got the stone,on tue , and tried honing the aldi chisels that I bought 2 mo ago. I mentioned the aldi chisels as a great way 1 to learn sharpening/honing skills and 2 some luthiers on a budget need inexpensive chisels.Ed it takes a small amt of water to create the slurry. Got mine from L,/V,. Tools from japan also has a great deal on a 3 set of sigma stones plus a 400 grit atoma diamond stone for flattening an a stone holder or tray ?? It/s supposedly a special deal. Hope this answers it .
