You may or may not have seen this thing, the Tonewood Amp. It looks very interesting and fun. I'm just afraid it would spoil me for pure acoustic guitar tone and like he says in the video, "I can't play guitar without it anymore...". What do you think? beehive

Gallaher seems to like it. I wonder how much the quality of the guitar affects the outcome. Would it work better with a more responsive guitar or is deadness a virtue?
At one time acoustic guitars only had a mic out front. Now they are commonly built in at the factory. This might be a logical extension of that.

I played one on a Yamaha a while back up at Chuck Levin's. It was pretty cool I must say. I would not mind having one just to play around with, it was that much fun. For me personally it's not a game changer or anything. I like pure acoustic tone. As for devices that make acoustic guitars sound better amped up I like the Fishman Aura. That's the only thing I will use to plug in an acoustic guitar anymore. And that's jsut going to give you some reverbs and chorus but it's the modelling that makes it imho. But those Tonewoods are pretty cool, lots of fun and at bedroom levels too.

It would be interesting to try one of those out. Too bad the only seller in my area is more than an hour drive away.

As an aside, the guitar player in the first video brings new meaning to the term scratchplate since he has a plate afixed to the top that he uses to make scratchy sounds. See at 3:11. When I first saw his guitar I was wondering what the heck that was on the cutaway horn.

I have one. Got one after a local artist showed it to me on one of my guitars I built for him. It is endless fun. Love it!!! It wont make your guitar booming loud, but it will be louder (no external amp). U can plug it into an amp. You can also interface with midi on your smart phone. This simply is one of the coolest ideas for acoustic guitar in a long time. I love the delay and plate reverb effects. What I would now love to find is an excellent microphone that can team up with logitech c930 web cam.

Btw, in its "unplugged" state, it uses a transducer with a rubber foot that turns the guitar back into a speaker. There is no cutting or permanent mods to the body. Some internal magnets positioned by a frame (and some sticky tape) are used to attach.

I had one, never bonded with it.
