This one has been slow in coming to life, as it kept getting pushed to the back of the line as other builds took priority. I wanted a slightly larger body guitar than my go-to OM. This is pretty close to a Tayler GS design.

I actually had this "finished" a few weeks ago. Stung up and actually played it in a couple of band practices. But from the start I had problems with the lacquer checking. I used Mohawk Piano Lacquer on it, which is highly recommended by a few builders who I respect. It spayed, sanded and buffed out wonderfully, but I found it extremely brittle. It would chip when drilling or chamferring screw holes. Checks developed around the rosette, bridge, and fb extension. It even cracked under the clear pick guard.

Also, from the start I envisioned this guitar to be sprayed green - a nod to several of Bruce Cockburn's guitars. But I sprayed this at a freind's booth and did not have time to work out the green. So it was standard clear nitro. After stripping it a couple of weeks ago, I went back to my tried and true Behlen nitro and committed to the green. And it finally emerged as what planned. One more round of clear this evening should do it. Right now, it absolutely glows in the sunlight. This is with a flash.

IRW back and sides, Sitka top, cocobolo binding, w/b/w purfling. More photos when it is back in one piece.

Looking good, love to see it when it's back together.

More pics once I start pulling it all back together. In light of the Titanium Fret Wire discussion earlier, and the associated Stainless fretwire discussion, I pulled the stainless frets and will either go back to Nickle Silver or perhaps Evo. Still deciding. For now, it will hang for a couple of weeks before if final sand, buff, and assemble. But here's a shot the day before I started stripping it. Band practice got moved to the shop for this night.
