Has anyone attempted to try to make anything like the Veillette Gryphon or Emerald Guitars Amicus? They are an interesting concept. Just wondering what might be a good approach on bracing. At an 18" or 18.5" scale with the higher tuning I don't think the string tension would be hugely greater than on a standard 12. Your thoughts? I'll attach links to the different instruments in the comments for those who might not be familiar. Thanks

Another video that reaches a little higher up the fret board. They said the tuning was an octave higher than a full size guitar.

I've built a few double strung tenor guitars and octave mandolins and citterns (ten strings). 20 1/2 to 22 inch scale length. They were tuned in fifths with the low note being a G. Tenors had mostly octave pairs. They had relatively small bodies and I braced them moderately heavy. A top thickness and bracing of normal scantlings for a large guitar can still work well because you aren't looking for great bass response. The tenors have deep bodies and relatively large soundholes and seem to cut through other instruments fairly well.

Thanks Clay. That's kind of what I was thinking for top thickness and bracing. It is an intriguing instrument. Had the chance to play around with one over the summer and loved it.
