Guitar building season is quickly approaching here. The weather is cooling off and drying out... Once the heat turns on - it will be time for bracing plates and closing boxes.

What is on tap for your fall/winter guitar builds?

I have 2 definates and room for 2 maybe's this year....

Definates:
Lutz/Osage Orange AJ
WRC/Mahogany Stella 3/4 size with a 13 fret neck. X-braced.

Maybe's:
J45
1940's Stella GC (for all intents identical to the OLF MJ)..
Ladder braced Stella 3/4 size couch machine
Size 1 parlor
Nick Lucas Special
Cant decide ;)

Before jumping into anything new for myself, I need to sell a couple of guitars that I have that are not being played. But I do have some tasks in line.

Definite:
Baritone Uke for band mate. Sinker honduran back/sides/neck. Sinker Redwood top. Ebony elsewhere.
Fret job, likely just level and crown, on my #1 OM.
Set up on my uke.

Likely:
Refinish Archtop. I used Sherwin Williams LoVOC lacquer on it that never really seemed to harden. So a full strip and refinish.

Possible:
Grand Symphony (GS) or Parlor sized guitar - IRW back sides, cedar top.

I've been building soprano Ukulele's lately and thoroughly enjoying it. They sell well too. I'll probably build a few more of those hopefully in time for people to buy as Xmas presents.

I'm also building a charity guitar for a local museum. The back story on that is that a 350 year old maple tree fell on the property and they offered the wood up to local crafts people in return for one pieces as a donation to the museum. I'll build a small parlor guitar. By January the 1in planks I cut will be one year dry and ready to cut. I'll probably cut the panels off some time in November and let them sit in my shop for a couple months.

After 5 classicals, I'm building my first steel string. A 00 vintage series Martin style slothead. EIR back and sides, and carpathian spruce top.
Quite a few new processes then what I've used so far, but luckily the skillset seems pretty transferable.

Voicing the top is where I'll be at a disadvantage, but I have Robbie O'briens's online course, and it includes a very thorough section on top bracing/voicing. It isn't like over the shoulder instruction, but it is the next best thing.

I have three electrics waiting for lacquer.
I'm running out of excuses and hanging hooks.
Weather's been perfect for spraying.
I have a new build in the works.
I really need to reorganize the shop. My table saw is covered in wood.

Three dreadnoughts. EIR, Cocobolo and Ziricote. I'm planning to do one torrefied bracing and top, one torrefied top only, one standard Sitka. All hide glue too, which should be an adventure in and of itself.

I have a 5 string fiddle that I have started and have all the material together for an F5 mandolin that I am just starting. No guitars booked. Maybe work on one for myself.

My goal is to have the piano rebuild done by the end of the month, and then finishing up my vacuum press and blanket controller. I need to finish two live edge console tables, too. Then, magically, I can start on a wenge/carpathian SJ.

After several years with no intention of ever building a dreadnought on the grounds that there are more than enough of them in the world already, I have succumbed to the desire to do it. I'm leaning toward a sloped shoulder design using non-traditional woods.

First I need to wrap up the shed I've been building out back and take advantage of the freed up space in the shop. Then I can get to it.

Got a couple of sets, Mango and Macassar ebony, thinking about using these soon.
Pairing with Adi (or maybe European) for the Ebony and Lutz for the Mango.

I have two on order. An oval hole archtop, no cutaway, nylon string, and an "f" hole cutaway steel string. I also am toying with the idea of a thinline version with wood veneer over the carbon fiber, just for little 'ole me. Let's see if I am not being too ambitious!

Just got good news from the surgeon. Cataracts should be fixed by Canadian Thanksgiving.

Then it's all about catching up on delayed builds for some extremely patient customers.

Can't wait.

I think I'll just try to get caught up on existing projects but as always my projects have to wait when I get setup/repair work.
- Olive/Redwood size 5 - bridge, frets
- '49 J45 retop - redo rosette, finish, bridge, frets
- 13 fret OM cutaway - retop
