Snowmansnow, the light behind the top photo is beautiful. Nice workmanship. I'm going to write myself a note so I can remember to take a picture of my next top the same way.

I've been learning how to French polish and have been working on this size 5 off and on for months. At first I tried to level and buff but I didnt like the result so I decided to keep working until I figured it out. The comment in one of the FP threads about working with a dry muneca (sp?) Turned out to be the key. Got more to learn but I'm declaring this one done!
edit: This is Royal Lac, by the way.

Yes Greg, I just finally might actually finish this one ;)

Whipping out an experimental Cedar body electric.
Probably a waste of time, but I'll have a decent neck to recylcle if the body snaps under tension.
Very light weight and very prone to dents.
I'm in the planning stage for a pimped-out Explorer build. I want to replace the two I gave away.

Guitar building is on hold while I build a storage shed alongside the house. It's one of those projects that's been on the to do list for several years so it's good to get it going. The weather has been unusually dry here this summer so good shed building conditions. This is part of my evil plan to free up more space elsewhere for guitar building...

Fretted and set up my 2nd Ukulele and already got started on my 3rd, this one with a spruce top. I'm having a lot of fun building Uke's and they seem to sell pretty well too! This one however is for me.

Well, guess I should post something here as well. Got the top finished on the Thunderchief Acoustic Bass. In a few days I will put bridge back on and set her up.

Well, not really building anymore, but I went over to St. Paul Guitar Repair where Ron and Michelle are finishing off my two last guitars, one a Stahl GC and the other a BBQ Bob 12.Both have white oak backs and Michelle and Ron have been doing a great job of filling the oak and sanding the instruments for finishing. I did the dying of the oak, as neither had a good handle on that procedure. So it was a teaching moment for them. We masked off the binding, purfling with blue 3M tape and all went pretty well. The worst was some mineral deposits like Indian RW, and a very fine point black pen took care of that easily. So, they are both off to finishing at this point!

Hey Haans,
Remember that Smith Creek set of archtop plates I got from you a while back? Finally got around to using them. Sounds great.

Really a beautiful sunburst Terry! Wish I could have built an archtop with the plates, but glad someone brought them to a great conclusion.
Love to see some close ups...

On hold for a spell till I get a little farther on with a tenor uke I am building (in the mandolin/ukulele forum). A guitilele with oak back, sides and fretboard, from a tree the neighbor had cut down. I snagged a section of it. Spruce neck.

Hey John - I noticed the A4 kerfed lining on the back, just curious why not on the top too? Because you see the back braces when looking in the sound hole :)

I ask because I have 10 sets of the A4 as well.

Great instrument btw!
