Hey everyone, I wanted to share my latest commission with you. This one is my "Grand Session" model and features Western Red Cedar for the Soundboard and quilted Sapele B&S. The inlay on the top was made from a piece of the actual tree that the inlay is supposed to look like. This guitar was made for Brian Kelley of Florida Georgia Line and will be his main performance and recording guitar.

Hey good lookin'!

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

Good one! I think a new technical term has been added to the luthier lexicon. [:Y:]

Absolutely beautiful! I'm a big fan of your work Chris, but I'm not a big fan of the control box on the side of the guitar. Your artistry shouldn't be marred by an electronic box that one day will be obsolete. The guitar will never be obsolete... Perhaps your client requested it... I guess the customer is always right.

You know... I go to the beach every now and then, and I don't ever find driftwood that looks that good...
