Tried the LMI 17" Japanese one, but no dice.

Any recommendations?

For those non-standard lengths, it's very easy (and quick) to make your own. Instructions where you'd expect. If you install them how I suggest in the 2nd edition (slide in access from the heel end when the neck is removed), they are easy to service, too, if you ever need to. I've always made my own, no welding, never had a failure. The 2nd ed. also has drawings for a very neat double acting rod.

Mark Blanchard will make any size you want at the same price as "standard" lengths. I think his rods are the best I've seen.

I have a stash of 4 Grizzly truss rods, advertised as 16" long; true enough but that wasn't counting the nut which made the whole thing 17 inches long. If one of these will do the job for you, you're welcome to it. Just PM me the address to send it to.
