Hello All, Have a 50-850 Delta 1.5 hp collector. Has a 6 inch to 4 inch reducer with a y fitting. It is a restrictor plate as well, as it is baffled to 4 inch n-- prior to the y. Can I remove the restrictor , and go 6 inch flex hose instead?? blade is 11 inch, and motor wired to 240 v. My runs are max 5-8 feet from the collector. If so, has anyone seen a cyclone with a 6 inch inlet?? Hoping image will come through with this link http://s562.photobucket.com/user/landro ... sort=3&o=0 Thanks all ror |

I had the same machine (but I'm pretty sure the impeller was bigger than 11"?) and I talked with folks at Oneida Air about it several years ago. They made me a new 6" bell mouth flange to replace the dual-4 inch inlet flange. They didn't see anything wrong with changing the inlet but they cautioned me that the blower doesn't move enough air or support enough static pressure to do a good job with the duct plan I had in mind. But I was planning several feet of duct and quite a few elbows so your situation may be very different. I moved shortly after that and never built that system. Incidentally I still have that 6" flange if you need it. I'd let it go cheaply but the shipping could be painful. It's pretty heavy gauge steel. ![]() Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I would talk with the manufacturer. The issue is that you need velocity to move the material - not just CFM's... As you increase your pipe size - your velocity drops accordingly.... And that hurts your ability to move heavy chips. And remember that your dust collector cyclone and filter is part of this equation as well... And those both add significant back pressure. Now... If you are exhausting "outside" and not using any sort of cyclone or filter - you could probably bump it up and all would work out OK.... |
