About a month ago, I went down to Georgia for Kent Carlos Everett’s Master Class. 2 days of one-on-one instruction.

Carlos has a beautiful home by Lake Arrowhead, and included in the cost is a one-night stay and meals. Carlos and Jeannie are fabulous hosts, and it’s a wonderful, welcoming environment (assuming, of course, that you’re not bothered by a driveway that requires switchbacks. No joke.).

I guess the true measure of a class like this is how many ah-ha moments it provides. You know the ones. “I can’t believe it's that simple." "How did I not think of that myself?" “Gee, I never thought of it that way before.”

There was no shortage of ah-ha moments, trust me. From the very beginning, and how to properly use a mold. To prep for final finishing.

Carlos takes you through his processes and jigs in such a manner that you, in effect, build a virtual guitar.

And during the course of your 2 days, Carlos also takes the guitar you’ve brought and critiques it.

All I can say about my critique was that it was both very positive and very humbling. There are gonna be many things I change about the way I build.

There’s an immense amount of info imparted in 2 days, and I’m still internalizing a lot of it., but I’d recommend the class without reservation.

If anyone wants more info, feel free to drop me a note at stevedenvir (at) gmail.com

Glad it was worth the drive through horrid weather, Steve! Looking forward to getting together soon!

Hey Steve I bet you learned a ton and enjoyed it to. That was my experience when I went down for his voicing class a few years ago. I came home with a lot more information then just voicing. I suppose since I was the only one of three that had any build experience, Carlos took pity on me and answered all of the off-subject questions I asked.

As you said, Carlos and Jeannie are great hosts although I was only there for only one day. I have thought of going back for the master class but still need to build a guitar that incorporates everything I've learned to date. The best guitar I've ever played was one of his that was hanging in his "clean" room.
