This was a "flash sale" present to myself, a decent anglepoise LED worklight, reduced nearly 40%. Wanted one for a year or more but was reluctant to pay full price (about $120) |

Neat light, Colin! Santa brought me several large bills (the legal tender kind).... A number of restaurant gift cards.... A new Levi's wallet.... A beat up 1974 Gibson L6-S that needs my tender loving care quite badly.... And my nephew's new CD. |

Grit Laskin's, "Grand Complications," a set of mini router bits from LMI (.02", and .03"), a plunge base for my full-size Dewalt router, and a Stew Mac gift card. ![]() Santa also brought a beautiful mug from a local ceramic artist. |

I also got Grit Laskin's book..... It's fantastic! Nothing else guitar related.... just a new fly reel, lots of chocolate (better start running more) and great times with family and friends. |

Despite my best efforts at dropping hints I did not find anything lutherie-related under the tree. ![]() |

These four gifts should make fine companions! ![]() I also got the gift of live music - tickets to see Canadian Nuevo Flamenco guitarist Jesse Cook, at a local theatre, and tickets to see Jethro Tull guitarist Martin Barre, again! Alex Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

I received a pair of those inexpensive Lee Valley marking knives with the black plastic handles, a Veritas Wonder Pup, and some plane socks. I already have a pair of Wonder Pups and get a lot of use out of them. I also received a few other non-lutherie items I won't catalog. I'm the main source of income in the family, and I usually go ahead and buy the big things I want or need as the want/need arises, so shopping for me is tough. |

Dan wins Christmas! Congrats, she's beautiful. Santa brought me the StewMac string height gauge for nut slotting, and the multi-sided fret rocker, plus a bunch of other non-guitar related stuff. Merry Christmas all. |

Be careful; mine like to eat sawdust. Dogs, not grandkids. Well, maybe the grandkids would too, if I had any. But for sure the dogs. |

A set of Raygun Guitars (Mr. Chris Verhoven's newest company) 3D-printed ultimate pot and jack wrenches, a small granite surface plate, fifths of Stranahan's and Glenlivet's Universal Social Lubricant and Guitar Parts Conditioner (or at least that is what the wrappings said...these may indeed just be plain old Glenlivet 12 and Colorado whiskey, in which case I may just choose to hydrate with it), and a gift certificate good for one 'Muddy Girl' Cerokote job on my often-discussed-in-shop billet build (the boys were laughing when I opened the envelop, but I have been able to verify that it's also good for patterns that are not tailored to stalking flamingos, such as 'Mine is Scarier than Yours' Kryptec and 'I Get the Last Laugh - Seriously' Pencott). |

Alex, it looks like you need company. I saw Tull twice at the gardens back in the early 70's, both excellent shows. |

Bri wrote: Alex, it looks like you need company. I saw Tull twice at the gardens back in the early 70's, both excellent shows. We saw Tull about 10 years ago. Ian Anderson's voice was pretty much done in the higher range, but still a good show. If you have a chance to see Martin Barre, you should go! Martin and his band put on a great show. The venue in Toronto seats about 200, and we always have dinner reservations, so first ticket buyers get the best tables! As far as the whiskies go, Bri, having company always makes having a drink much more enjoyable! Cheers! Alex |

A Wood River replica Stanley No. 1, since I made it (reassuringly) clear I would never use family money to spring for a real one. It's so cute! But how the heck did Stanley/Bailey/whoever was responsible ever imagine that this was a useful size for a two-handed bench plane? I can't imagine a use for it relative to a comfortable block plane. But, it is so cute! |

Not much for me but one of those HTC Vive virtual reality headsets for my son. I have to admit, that is one of the coolest video game experiences I've had. I played pong and space invaders (basically) but against real 3D opponents. Amazingly real. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I received a photographer's black backdrop so I can take fancy pants photos of my guitars. Yesterday, the usual gray cloudy winter skies here gave way to a thin overcast that gave enough sunlight to actually cast weak shadows. So I jumped at the opportunity to try out the backdrop with the guitar I just finished. The lighting was only so so, but some of the photos came out OK. Attachment: 6950r.jpg Attachment: 6911r.jpg
