I recevied a small piece of port orford cedar from michael of the olf . I used it for bracing I find it stiff and vy light .Looking online there are a number of lumberyards in oregon that sell it. Does anyone know what the going rate for a 1/4 sawn 1 by 6 or 2 by 6 piece is ?. Also a recommendation for a seller . The luthiery places are high $$ thanks

Great for cleaning inside of box, fretboards. I don't think they sell wood, but bet they could help you figure out who does.

My wife is a fan of cedar oil , got some from TX today , but it/s not the same smell. I saw the archery ads on e- bay

It can be hard to find outside specialty suppliers and pretty rare even with them. Last time I stumbled across some I think it was around $15 a board foot ... maybe? It's been a few years and I can't say for sure. That was at Crosscut Hardwoods in Seattle. Just checked their inventory and they don't show any in stock currently. Personally, I think it's wonderful wood and worth searching out.

I would contact Les Stansell at http://www.stansellguitars.com/. He is a luthier who processes lots of wood. He may have tops and brace stock for sale. I have bought from Dave Maize also, he carries POC and redwood tops - really nice stuff. I did a google search for Dave and he doesn't have a website anymore. I'm not sure how to contact him.

My first stop would be Robert Cefalu at http://www.rctonewoods.com/RCT_Store/. Check out his website and call him if you don't find it online. Anytime I feel the need to spend $$$, Uncle Bob usually gets first crack at my cash.

Port Orford is one of my favorite tone woods, and I've dealt with Vince Strauss of Pacific Coast Woods on several occasions. He's a great person to work with. In addition to top wood, he also sells POC as dimensional lumber for boat building. That might be what you're looking for.

Thanks everyone I ordered the leftovers from his milling stock(vince) to be used in bracing ,it/s strong ,its light an according to vince has the highest strength to weight ratio.Iluv the smell too!
