I've had it with the Stewmac filler I've been using. Pops out of the grain when sanding. Just a pain. I want to try something better. Searches offer a lot of suggestions, like z-poxy, etc, but I can't find that in the EU and it's amber tinted and I definitely want something clear that still makes the grain pop! What's the best filler for madagascar and brazilian rosewood guitars, available in the EU? Thanks!! |

I just finished pore filling a walnut b&s redwood top guitar using egg whites. It was so easy to use and by the time I finished one side I could go back and recoat the previous side. 3 applications was plenty. It does a wonderful job of filling with just sanding it to a slurry and cross grain squeegee removal of excess. Water clean up is a bonus. |

System III epoxy is pretty clear and makes an excellent pore filler. West Systems too is a good choice if the bit of amber that Z-Poxy "finishing resin" (not their epoxy products) has. Of course always use proper health and safety precautions with epoxy products. |

West systems is not so clear in Europe due to changed ingredient (banned by EU) I would suggest trying ArtResin - I am just setting up a guitar, pore filled with this resin http://www.artresins.eu/#!/shop/artresin-200ml-mini-kit.html Water clear, easy to mix (1:1 - not too fussy but I use a syringe) sand well, only one slight minus - needs 24hr/coat to dry before sanding. BTW, Z poxy is available in EU, if you search Quote: z poxy finishing resin Ebay (UK)

Hi Joost I'm working on my first with the stuff from gitaarbouwerswinkel. Up till now it looks fine, no color at all. easy to work with (brush) and easy to sand. But no end result yet we have to wait a few weeks for that ![]() Regards Wim |
