| Post subject: | Resawing Lumber in to Back/side sets |
I have been asked to build a guitar using a beautiful board of bubinga. I do not have the equipment to resaw it into back and side sets. I am located in Fort Collins CO. Can anyone give me pointers on how I can get this board resawed? Thanks, |

If its figured as in bee's wing, it can be very beautiful, but also tricky to bend. I would have a couple extra sides sawed if possible. Alot of wood suppliers can resaw it for you. People that sell things like gun stocks, big pieces of wood, furniture makers, boat builders (probably not to many in Fort Collings). But some local guitar builder would be my first choice. |

Look for a local Millwork shop. They might have a 1 hour minimum. In Seattle it's about $100 an hour. Maybe you could have several sets to cut at the same time. They probably would have a wide belt sander also and you could have them sand down the sides close to Final thickness and the backs just thick enough to glue them together. |

check with the Colorado Luthier's group.Probably your best resource. They will either know where to go or maybe one of the members can resaw it for you. |
