Client picked up his OM today, and I only just managed to take some quick photographs before he had to disappear.
East Indian Satinwood back and sides, Adirondrack Spruce soundboard, Sapelle/Maple neck with Wenge veneers, East indian Rosewood fretboard, Brazilian Rosewood bridge
Tuners are Gotohs, Evo fretwire, clear pickguard.
Bindings are red pearloid, and the finish is Enduro-Var Flat.
Thanks for looking.

Well done!

Nice work! How do you like the Enduro-Var flat? I've not done a flat finish before. Do you just sand up to a final grit and skip the buffing?

I remember you mentioning a rosetteless build, Colin. Looks like it turned out great! There's a bit more sheen than I would have expected with a flat finish.

Thanks guys.

I knew I forgot something Clay! oops_sign

Mike, the Enduro-Var was 3 heavy coats of gloss (first is a seal coat), levelled 320 grit, then 3 lighter coats of flat straight off the gun, unlevelled, no buffing. Total finish thickness was 3.3 thou.

Alex, I did too, but the client saw my test panels and was happy enough to go with it, although if I hadn't known I would have said it's more silk.

Forgot to mention, there is no pore fill on the B & S, Satinwood doesnt need it.

Where did you get the top wood for that one? I like the clear look and wide grain.

nice one, even if it takes some time for my classical-guitar-trained eye to get used to the pearloid, er, in-your-face-ness :)

i too love that top, and you can´t beat satinwood for shimmer and chatoyance. but what really steals the show IMO is the no rosette... one is so used to a circle (or whatever) around the sound hole that the absence of a rosette just screams! sort of a thunderous silence, i like it and i´ll steal it. :)

That's the lowest grade top I had (AA+), but the most even in colour.
I'm sure the owner would be flattered and pleased if you stole it, I might even use it again myself.

In that case it's patented and absolutely forbidden.
Enjoy!
