Post subject: | Sinker Redwood Classical Is Finished!!! |
I have FINALLY completed the classical I had started way back in November --- a 650mm Hauser plan adapted to a Taylor Grand Concert shape --- sinker redwood top, East Indian rosewood back and sides, curly maple bindings, transitional arm bevel, soundport, French-polished finish. I just strung it up this past Saturday, so now it's just 5 days old. I think it turned out nicely. Thanks to all of you who helped out with tips and suggestions a while back, when I had questions about building with the sinker redwood and the curly maple binding. Your ideas helped a lot! Instead of posting my progress on my website, I chose this time to post my daily work on Facebook --- it was just quicker and easier to do that than to do the editing on my website. I have, however, embedded all my Facebook posts onto my website pages, so you can see the entire process here, if you'd like: http://theamateurluthier.com/retirement ... aylor.html Again, thanks for all your help!!! |

Kathy the guitar looks great, it was fun going through the build on your site. I like the arm bevel on a classical guitar. |

The arm bevel feels really good on this one (I kind of extended it a little further down towards the tail than I did on the first bevel). What kind of a build are you up to nowadays??? |

I really enjoy your detailed descriptions and photos. I plan to do a bevel on my next one - a red spruce/Honduran rosewood slope shoulder dread. I won't start that for another few months, I made myself stop and finish up the 4 partially completed projects I had laying around - 2 down, 2 to go. |

I've been watching progress on Facebook, Kathy. Nice job. Beautiful guitar! Redwood, of any kind, makes a great classical guitar if done right. |

Thanks, Hesh, Wendy, Bob, and Wayne!!! I appreciate it. It's sounding a little better and becoming a little looser each day. If I have time today, I'm going to start looking at fixing that finish problem on the lower bout of the top! |
