I finally have a site up and I'm reasonably pleased with it. If you folks wouldn't mind taking a look and sharing your opinions, I'd really appreciate it.

Looks good :) Nice and simple design, honest writing (glad the advertising career hasn't turned you into a corporate hype machine), and no annoying slideshows, auto-playing background music or other flashy Flash features.

The page title needs filled in (currently says "mysite")

I think you should add a photo gallery of past guitars you've built. The photos alongside the text pages are good, but feel like a teaser. Even better is to have a sound clip or two together with the photos of each guitar, but only if you have access to good recording equipment, since it's so tough to get an accurate representation of a guitar's sound.

Unless you mean that you don't do Venetian cutaways on spec builds, but will be flexible if commission customers request them. But still could use a bit of rewording.

Looks good. I don't have any feedback about the content, but the contact page renders a little strangely in Edge Browser (Win 10), IE 11 and Chrome 50.0.2661.94. Here is a screenshot of what I see:

Your experience with advertising shows - you have a great way with words with a bit of humor. I think this is a very good start for you to build on. You will of course need photos of your work and for now I might suggest using some of the instruments you have built as they are very nice. Details might help -e.g. add a link to a photo of a florentine cutaway where it says "the pointy one".

Good start on the site, Steve. I agree with others here though, set up a gallery section showcasing your previous work (you've put together some fantastic work, let the folks see that) and a bit of your build process. All in all, good job.

Are you going to have a ready to go inventory or just commissions (which I will never do again)?

Quality sound clips --- an expensive Martin compared to one of your very reasonably priced handmade.

At first I was thinking, "For a commercial site, this really needs some sprucing up." As I read the "About" and "Guitar" sections, though, I totally got it.

As others have said, though, you need more pics of completed guitars.

Visually I like it. The bright white the text is on might be better on a light parchment.
Needs more photos of your work.
I would us a different font for your text. Serif fonts are usually reserved for the printed word on paper. They tend to be harder to read on a display.
Your text is too wordy and quite in places. Be more concise. Use fewer words. Less is more. You made a simple elegant site then pummeled me with words.

Hi Steve! Fantastic. I like the text. For me it was not too wordy. I read the entire site in about 7 minutes. That's taking time to look at the pictures. Since that's about the limit of my attention span I think it works. [FACE WITH STUCK-OUT TONGUE AND WINKING EYE]

I agree with others that more photos of your work would be great. The pics you have are good. For me (and maybe others here?) the shots of braced tops and backs, etc. are interesting and beautiful but I think for players looking to buy, more pictures of finished instruments are important. This is probably just a personal quirk but one thing I found myself looking for that I didn't find is a picture of a headstock. I don't think you have a whole-body shot of a guitar anywhere on the site.

You've made some beautiful guitars and I'd like to see more.

I'd consider leaving that thought out -- its also reflection on a customer regarding their sense of style, IE personally I view the look of the two styles just the opposite. What you do, do is good enough.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. It's much appreciated.

My problem with showing whole guitars is that they're not that interesting to my mind. Sure, you can show off killer back and side woods. But I think the really interesting stuff is in the details.

And yeah yeah yeah, I don't have enough of those either. I know, I know... :-)
