Brad, what type of file is that - I can't see it, just get a message "A plugin is needed to display this content"

It should be an inline youtube video. You'll need flash I believe, in order to play it. Here is a link without the inline youtube tag if it helps.

That's Marshall. He and his dad are amazing. I have seen his dad put together a flamenco guitar in a week, including French Polish finishing it.

Pretty cool approach. Seconds, not hours. :)

Wow that is really cool. I'm kind of surprised it works that well. Anytime I use power tools around a neck joint I make it worse! He's and entertaining personality as well. My only beef with it is... Where is the ear protection? idunno

I like it. David Hurd had something like that set up using a band saw.

That is one smart fixture, but I get terrified when I hear the sound of a sanding belt seam whipping across a work piece. The seamless ones are so much gentler on the machine and the work piece, and do a much better job. It begs to question why they aren't all seamless by now?

I've seen a factory tour on youtube doing a similar operation to fit a neck butt joint, but can't remember which one.

I remember reading his dad, R.E. Brune, describing this process many years ago. I think the article is in either the first or second Big Red book. If I recall, he borrowed the idea from a Japanese factory he visited back in the late '70's or early '80's (don't hold me to that-it's been at least 10 years since I read that article...and the article had been written at least 10-15 years prior to that).

Collings does something like this except with a router/pantograph type of machine that they built.
