Post subject: | Ebony Bridge Crack |
Just noticed a hairline crack - about 1/2" on the face of the wing, and a bit longer on the back side. Should I fix with CA, or just make a new one? ![]() Thanks for any advice! Alex Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

Have had the same thing happen to me. I promptly cut it in half with the bandsaw so I wasn't tempted to use it. You could wick CA into the crack and fix it, but maybe there's more internal checking you can't see. Too much riding on the flawless functioning of the bridge to take a chance with 10 bucks worth of material. Unfortunately the labour is sunk cost now. |

Looks like it's going to be a new one. I flexed the crack to wick CA, and the crack extended much further than I had thought. That was the only Ebony blank that I had, but I've got some African Black Wood blanks that will look much better. As far as the labour cost goes, I'm just learning this guitar stuff, so this is another learning lesson for me! Alex |

Yes, working with natural material, this happens from time to time, just need to factor it in, and carry on. |
