Am using my first terrified Sitka top and am having some cause for concern. My bridges are normally 1"by 6" rectangle footprint and I'm wondering if this is the right approach with this top. Has any one had any problems re: peel off or glue issues . I am not even close to putting the bridge on .......just doing some forward scouting.

You think you're concerned, your poor top is terrified!

I've done everything exactly the same with no issues.

Maybe sneak up on the bridge and terrify that too? :)

Top is torrified, I'm terrified, not really but being cautious. Wood seems to be brittle like Redwood and also sands like Redwood. But the up side is it seems very stable and sounds better then any Sitka I've handled. Looking forward to getting this one completed. Sometime in the spring.

Do you go bigger on a cedar top?

Build it like you normally do and it will be fine.

Oh, and the "difficult to glue" myth is just that...it glues as well as regular wood.

printer2.......Fred:
Started out building cedar tops(David Russell Young)but have not used one since the early 80's. Took a bit of a hiatus and when I started again I went to spruce and have used it almost exclusively except for a couple of Redwood tops that had belly bridges. The cedar also had belly bridges and a couple gave me trouble. Don't want a repeat and thus my concern but am now happy with the trouble free confirmations that came back from the crew.
