This is the wildest wood that I've ever worked with. Bought it from Brad maybe 6 or 7 years ago. It's now residing at Trevor of TAMCO (Great Britain) bought it at the last Healdsburg Guitar Festival. It's paired with a redwood top from one of the OLF sponsors, Vince Strauss of Pacific Coast Woods. Image

Personally, that does more for me than most sets of "The Tree" I have seen.

Bet that's a lovely sounding guitar.

No issues bending?

Beautiful figure. How was it to bend? I'l be building with set of similar figure and am worried abut making the tight radius of a Ukulele.

Thanks all for the positive comments. Mother Nature pulled out all the stops making that tree. As far as my contribution, I just tried to use a few elements that complemented rather than competed with the beauty of the wood.

Brad, you certainly did those of us who benefited from your sale (to buy a drum set for your church group, if I remember correctly) a real favor. My only regret was that I didn't buy a second set.

Danny V. I had no bending issues, other than sheer terror of hearing that little, tell-tale "click" indicating a broken side. Just used very little water. Also, I thinned it down to about .070 and used an inner veneer of EIR to give the finished sides more structural integrity. By the way, building this instrument really confirmed my belief in how great a part the top and subsequent bracing system contribute to the overall final sound. Although it was stunning, the back panels had the tap tone of wet cardboard. Yet, this guitar sparkled.

And finally, Danny V.: I know that it's purely subjective, but I agree that the "Tree" has nothing on the Goodman Board sapele.

That is a beautiful guitar!!! It is very nicely executed indead.

I still have some B&S wood I bought from Brad about ten years ago (Zircote) that is almost to nice to build with. (Can't stand the thought of hearing a 'crack!' when I bend it) And I love the redwood from Vince. I have bought both sinker and old growth from him and it is excellent.

Today, what does a set of B & S like that cost?

Wbergman: Not being a supplier, I wouldn't know exactly, but would estimate that a comparable set would fetch over $600. I purchased the quilted set pictured below from Bob at RC Tonewoods about the same time (over 6 years ago) and it cost $270. And this was beautiful material, but not nearly as wild as the pommele.
