OK, so it's a Strat, but do you think it can be done with an acoustic? http://gizmodo.com/a-fender-stratocaste ... 1745997514 |

We spent so much time figuring out if we could make an acoustic out of cardboard that we never stopped to ask if we should make an acoustic out of cardboard. ![]() It would be really interesting to set up some blind listening experiments with some of these and some real strats of alder and ash. ![]() |

I'd hardly call that a cardboard guitar. I was expecting the neck and everything to be cardboard too. That would be impressive! But seeing as the body on an electric isn't under any tension, it's way easier than making a cardboard acoustic. |

Look again. The neck, and I from what I can see, the fingerboard, both are made of cardboard. |

People have been making cardboard mountain dulcimers for years. I'm sure an acoustic guitar could be made with a cardboard body. I've made both instruments with Formica back and sides and about 50 stick dulcimers that way, but always using tonewood tops. For a boy scout project cardboard might be a worthy material to build with. It is widely available, affordable, and easily cut, shaped and glued. |

Those cheap 50 dollar acoustic guitars out there are probably made of cardboard. At least they feel like it. |

Torres made a classical with back and sides made either from paper mache or thick cardboard, just to demonstrate that the top is the most important part for sound. |

Cardboard, wood fiber, press board all the same thing really.... I like this response on the site. "I don’t know much about musical instruments, so by no means am I an expert here, but is it really considered to be a guitar made out of cardboard if it’s only the body that’s cardboard? Feel this would be like saying my phone is made of glass just because of the screen and back, or my car is made of leather because the seats are." |
