Ok, so I have two upcoming builds that will hopefully use bear claw tops. I've never gone here before. Newbie. So if u have them, or know where to get them, tell me. Plz, and thank you.

LMI, in their Sitka section, shows some bear claw available. Stew-Mac has some, too. Neither of them has ever sent me wood that was a disappointment. I buy stuff elsewhere, sometimes, but both of these are consistent great suppliers for us "one at a time" builders.

I've bought some from Maurice Roy, in British Columbia. Very nice tops, and all from salvaged trees..http://www.roytonewood.com He sells on ebay as well. I think DannyV might have more info on him.

Check Sponsors. There's a pro here and he's green. (environmentally speaking) And he trades in your far too over priced currency. haha

In the past I purchased a couple of extreme bearclaw sets from Brent @ ASW. I spoke with him on the phone and described the type of figure I was looking for and he sent me two fantastic tops sight unseen that were spectacular. Here is a pic of one of them I dug up from my old post archives:

Alaska Specialty woods has a great selection, typically, and great prices. I have ordered almost all my bearclaw from them. I especially like the look of lots of the 2Amfull figure tops, they have a little color which I prefer and the figure is top notch

I got this from Brent @ASW. If I was a better photographer you could better see how beautifully figured this top is.

Brent Cole is the man for Bearclaw. I got a couple really great sets from him at ASIA back in '03. Or was it '04. I forget. I'm getting old...

We have in the vicinity of several thousand bearclaw flat top guitar sets.
We have some with both bearclaw and quilt/curl too

And here is another.
It's quite rare to have such white Sitka and have this much figure.

These are sanded with 80 grit. It Doesn't show the figure near as nice as planed boards. But we can's afford to give planer knives a chance to chip, so all figured boards are run through the wide belt sander.
