I just completed a guitar with the brite-tone from wood essence here in Canada. Likes No Lacquer smell high solids so less than 1/3 quart to spray the guitar Quick curing, I waited the 100 hours as from the instructions, but if I use it again will give it 1 week, seemed to get harder and still shrinks after that time frame. I will give it a week next time. Easy clean up Totally clear coating Easy to drop fill after 1st level sanding with CA glue Finish thickness after sanding and buffing .003" Does not load the abrasives as much when dry sanding Dislikes Harder to get a good spray result than Nitro lacquer Can not be over sprayed after it is cured I tried the satin on the neck and it is a pain to spray an even coat I will use this again but actually still prefer Nitro lacquer. To me the only benefit is clear coating, speed of curing and lack of solvent smells. Fred |

I used it recently on a small body guitar and a Puerto Rican Cuatro. As you pointed out Fred, quick build. Nice finish. i was used to spraying EM6000, so I may have overdone it with the Brite Tone. I have never used nitro so I can't compare. I will use it again, now that I have somewhat of an understanding of its build characteristics. Somehow, I don't think the shine ( at least for me ) matches that of EM6000. But that may have something to do with my application and buffing technique. |

Quote: I don't think the shine ( at least for me ) matches that of EM6000 To me it does not have the cold plastic type feel that I experience when touching any other water born finishes I have encountered on others builds. Maybe that is why it does not seem to be a shiny to me if feels just like nitro. How long did you wait before sanding and buffing? I have only ever used Nitro and will probably go back to it once this quart of Brite-tone is used up, as I do not like the fact it can not be repaired as easy as nitro. Fred |
